Honda Malaysia recalls 1999 Accord and 2000 CR-V
Honda Malaysia has recalled 1,380 units of 1999 Honda Accord and 1,404 units of 2000 Honda CR-V. The 2,784-unit recall is meant to replace the Takata driver front airbag inflator as a preventive measure.
The deployment of the Takata driver front airbag inflator could result in excessive internal pressure, causing the airbag to fail in operation. As of today, there have been no reports of incident and injury caused by the Takata airbag in these vehicles.
Honda Malaysia will inform affected owners via mail for further details. The company urges affected customers to make an appointment upon receipt to replace the faulty part.
If you know friends or relatives who own these models, get them to contact Honda Malaysia for a replacement. The cost of the procedure will be borne by Honda Malaysia, stock will be available in stages.
There’s no need to wait for the mail, owners can always call Honda’s Toll Free number at 1-800-88-2020 or log on to productrecall.honda.com.my to check with their vehicle identification number (VIN).
Honda Malaysia assures current models are not affected in this recall, and the company will continue to be transparent with regards of the recall.
Customers can also rest their mind because all Honda Service Centers observe strict health and safety Standard Operating Procedures to safeguard the well-being of staff and customers.
