Apple Car Coming In 2024?

It is no secret that Apple has been planning to produce a passenger car since 2007, even before the company released its first iPhone.

That idea was once abandoned and often random reports will bring it back to light. However, a few days ago, newswire agency Reuters reported that Apple expects to start production on its first passenger car in 2024.

It was stated that Apple may look for a manufacturing partner to produce the vehicle, and at the same time develop the next level of battery technology with extended range, more efficiency, and most importantly reduces the cost of batteries.

Reuters said that “Apple now aims to build personal vehicles for the mass market contrasted with rivals like Alphabet Inc’s Waymo, which has built robo-taxis to carry passengers for a driverless ride-hailing service.”

There are also rumors saying that the company is in early negotiations with a couple of well-known automotive electronics suppliers for components for a potential upcoming vehicle-related product, and in the process of establishing a factory in the United States.

According to an American financial and business news portal Business Insider, experts predicted that the three automotive companies that most likely will partner Apple for this project, would be Tesla, Volkswagen and Magna Steyr.

At the moment, we know that since 2015, Apple has been recruiting employees from the automotive industry and other car-related fields, like the researchers and specialists in battery technology and autonomous systems. Most of the employees had previously worked for companies like Tesla, Ford, General Motors, Samsung, Chrysler, Volkswagen, NVIDIA, Tata Motors and more.

Some of the high-profile personalities were from Tesla which includes its mechanical engineering manager David Nelson, senior powertrain test engineer John Ireland, vice president Chris Porritt, senior CNC programmer David Masiukiewicz, and head recruiter Lauren Ciminera.

With all this news circulating around, does it mean that we have hard evidence that there’s an Apple Car coming soon? No. It could be Apple is working on self-driving cars, or even that the company is working on a very good Artificial Intelligence (AI) system.

Of course, we at Caricarz would be very excited to see an Apple Car go on sale, but we have to wait for more confirmation before believing that the Apple Car will be in production.
