PM Authorizes RM30 Million For PDRM
In order to protect members of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) from defamation, the government has approved an allocation of RM30 million for the purchase of body cameras for the use of PDRM.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said his party approved the allocation in order to protect PDRM members from criminals or irresponsible people.
“With the use of high-tech and sophisticated body cameras, I believe the morale and confidence of PDRM members can be enhanced while performing operations and assignments that have been set.
"Even though it involves additional costs to the government, the government will still consider if there is a need for allocation to equip the police force," he said.

He said this at the 214th Police Day Commemoration Ceremony at the Police Training Center Parade Square (Pulapol) today.
In the same development, he said, the government also agreed to extend the financial remuneration of RM500 to all recipients of the Pingat Jasa Pahlawan Negara (PJPN).
“The remuneration is given to medal recipients who are on duty or have retired from service.
"This remuneration will benefit more than 80,000 PJPN recipients, including 40,000 medal recipients who have retired from service," he said.
Last year, PDRM applied for 1,300 body cameras and 1,000 new non-lethal weapons through the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).
It is expected to be tabled in Parliament, later this year.
