Brand Finance, a brand marketing consulting company from the United Kingdom, recently released the 2021 global auto brand value rankings.

With a brand value of US$ 59.5 billion (RM 246.7 billion), Toyota ended Mercedes-Benz's four years streak at the top position of the brand value list.

Although the new Covid-19 pandemic has affected the world for more than a year, Toyota can still have outstanding sales performance in Japan, North America, Europe and other markets in this counter-trend. The brand value has grown by 2.4 percent to reach US$ 59.5 billion (RM 246.7 billion).

As for Mercedes-Benz, which has dominated the world’s top auto brand value since 2017, its brand value has fallen sharply, as much as 10.5 percent to US$ 58.2 billion (RM 241.3 billion). It is the largest drop among the top ten brands, but still able to secure the second place in the brand value ranking.

Except for Toyota, companies that ranked second to fifth in order are, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, BMW and Porsche, which are all German brands. It can be seen that the value of German car brands is still strong in the world.

The sixth-ranked Tesla is the brand with the largest increase in brand value among all car brands, with an increase of 158 percent to US$ 32 billion (RM132.7 billion), and its performance can be said to be quite impressive.

In addition to brand value, "Brand Finance" also selects the car brand that has the most "brand power". Ferrari bagged the world's strongest "brand power" , while the Asian "brand power" winner is Suzuki. The company's selection of "brand power" is based on the brand's popularity, credibility, and reputation.

2021 Global Automobile Brand Value Ranking:
1) Toyota
2) Mercedes-Benz
3) Volkswagen
4) BMW
5) Porsche
6) Tesla
7) Honda
8) Ford
9) Volvo
10) Audi
