Luck is better than a hundred marks!

That proverb accurately describes the tragedy that befell the three men who survived the incident of a fallen tree on Travers Road near the National Museum, yesterday afternoon.

The driver and passenger of the white Proton Saga were said to have gotten out of the vehicle causing them not to suffer any injuries.

Meanwhile, a Yamaha LC motorcyclist was reported to have only minor injuries to his legs.

In the 3.05 pm incident, an old tree believed to be 30 years old fell due to wind and heavy rain in the area.

"The two foreign men in the Proton Saga were lucky to get out as soon as the tree hit their car, but one motorcyclist was slightly injured," said Brickfields District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner (ACP) Anuar Omar.

Several pictures spread on social media showcased a white car badly crushed as a result of being hit by the tree, while the tree also blocked the path around the road.

However, no casualties have been reported as of now.

Meanwhile, a Caricarz sighting in the area found that the removal and cleaning work on the main road had been carried out by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall.

Previously, the local media reported that 57 of the 500 old trees around Kuala Lumpur city centre were at risk of falling and broken branches, which could lead to loss of life and property damage.

In fact, the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Mahadi Che Ngah also described the 30-year-old trees that are at risk of falling are now in the process of being felled.
