Attention to all citizens, as the EMCO takes full effect in less than 24 hours, only one representative of the family is allowed to go out for the gathering of any basic needs.

During the Emergency Movement Control Order (EMCO), distance of travel is limited to a radius of only 10 km from all respective residentials and anywhere beyond is prohibited.

The government’s order for the EMCO that commences tomorrow on July 3 will be in motion for up to 14 days until July 16.

Malaysia’s minister of defence Ismail Sabri Yaakob commented, “Starting tomorrow, the masses are advised not to make any unnecessary movements from 8pm onwards unless it is for emergencies or requesting approvals from the Royal Malaysian Police (Polis Diraja Malaysia, PDRM).”

Nevertheless, the EMCO is only imposed on a few regions in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor due to their rising figure of Covid-19 cases, which is at an all-time high.

Presently, the state of Selangor recorded between 1,800 to 1,900 cases, meanwhile the average daily cases recorded for the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur is around 600 to 1,000 cases.

As such, the government’s decision on enforcing the EMCO affected eight regions in Selangor that involved 34 districts all together and 14 localities for Kuala Lumpur.

“All routes in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur under the EMCO will be closed, barricaded and heavily guarded by the PDRM from midnight tonight,” he added.

Hence, the citizens are urged to act responsibly, stay at home and if there is a need to leave the house, standard operating procedures (SOP) that were set should be strictly adhered to.

Evidently, one question still lingers, will this so-called stricter action taken by the government deter the Covid-19 pandemic? Well, it’ll only be answered at the end of these 14 days of EMCO.
