Three Reckless Drivers Caused A Major Accident
If you want to show off your driving skill, do it on the race circuit and not on the road!
This is one of the comments on Facebook after a video surfaced showing a convoy of cars recklessly overtaking others at a sharp blindspot corner at Ulu Yam, Gombak, yesterday causing a major accident.
The three drivers were criticized for testing their cars on public roads. The three modified cars were seen speeding before the accident when one of the convoy cars collided with a lorry and an oncoming car from the opposite direction.
Head of the Selangor Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT), Superintendent Azman Shariat said, the accident occurred when a Mitsubishi Lancer tried to overtake a Perodua Bezza but failed and thus collided with a lorry coming from the opposite direction.
"The driver of the Lancer tried to overtake a Perodua Bezza but failed and collided with a lorry coming from the opposite direction," he said.
Also involved in the accident was a Volkswagen Scirocco.
Fortunately, no one was killed in the incident. However, the lorry driver and two Bezza passengers were sent to Selayang Hospital.
The incident was recorded by a vehicle's dashboard camera before it was shared on the Facebook page.
Many Facebook users condemned the actions of the three irresponsible drivers and hoped that all the suspects would be brought to justice.
"Racing on the road does not make you a champion, instead you're jeopardising the lives of other innocent road users," commented a Facebook user.
The case is being investigated under Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
