Joining The Electrified Crusade, Aston Martin Commits To 50 Percent EV Sales By 2030

Ever wondered if an Aston Martin would harbour anything but a menacing V8 or V12, well as it happens, the automotive world is changing faster than most are comfortable with.

It appears one of Britain’s most iconic brands is changing its current and is joining the crusade of an electrified future.

Detailed in a report released by Reuters, the brand aims to electrify at least 50 percent of all its vehicles by 2030.

Aston Martin's chief executive officer, Tobias Moers, illustrated, "I would say a minimum of 50 percent of our sales will be electric, possibly more. This comes quite some time after other major British automakers like MG, Land Rover and Jaguar have all separately committed themselves to renewable fuel sources that more often than not are even more aggressive than the plans put in place by Aston.”

On that note, by comparison, Aston Martin’s 50 percent commitment to EV sales seems like a half-measure, unlike other global automakers who have fully fledged themselves to the cause.

The most notable example of this is Jaguar, who’ve already confidently dedicated themselves to the sustainable vehicle fuel game via their I-Pace crossover SUV.

A vehicle that has been praised in recent times for its innovative design and engagement to extend its technology into the rest of the Jaguar range in the near future.

Above all, several European nations and key US states have also already pledged to ban the sale of petrochemical-powered engines by the mid-2030s at the latest.

In short, if those laws come to pass, it could be a very rough go of things for James Bond’s preferred automaker.
