2022 BMW iX Flow E Ink – A Preview of New Colour Styles

BMW has unleashed the new E Ink exterior colour presented during CES 2022 event. The car marque has developed a colour-switching model that customised its exterior depending on the driver’s mood setting or any required conditions.

On top of that, it affects the heating of the occupants' seating compartment which derives from strong sunlight and the temperatures may reduce by shifting the exterior to a light colour.

Coming off in two hues, Black and white, BMW iX has staged its price from RM 419,630.00 to RM 472,630,00 meanwhile 2021 BMW iX xDrive40 costs RM 419,630.00. The top variant, xDrive40 Sport carries a price of RM 472,630.00.

The E Ink technology itself is energy efficient whereas does not require any power to maintain the chosen colour state, unlike displays or projectors.

In addition, the iX mid sized electric SUV is covered in laser-cut E Ink electrophoretic paper with millions of tiny microcapsules of ink resulting in different colour pigments to its surface when stimulated on electric fields.

"This gives the driver the freedom to express different facets of their personality or even their enjoyment of change outwardly, and to redefine this each time they sit into their car," said head of project for BMW ix Flow featuring E Ink.

"Similar to fashion or the status ads on social media channels, the vehicle then becomes an expression of different moods and circumstances in daily life." she added.
