Citroën’s Strategy To Accelerate Electrification - Berlingo Passenger Car And Spacetourer Become 100% Electric Only
Citroën, A pioneer in MPVs and Leisure Activity Vehicles, is converting its offering in these two segments to battery power. The future energy will allow consumers to enjoy all of the freedom both cars give while paying a considerably lower total cost of ownership and leaving a smaller carbon impact.
The France carmaker has made the bold decision to benefit both customers and the environment. That is why they decided to convert these vehicles to all-electric powertrains as soon as possible.
In LCV form, conventional, fuel-powered variants will continue to be offered (Berlingo Van and Dispatch). Given the present production scenario, the company will deliver the 2021 fuel-powered variants orders in 2022.
However, the Grand C4 SpaceTourer, which can comfortably transport up to seven persons, is still available with an internal combustion engine.
This decision stems from the company's strategic and responsible approach to the future of mobility and its aim to expedite its energy transition plan and provide clients with solutions that are in line with future trends.
This switch was made possible due to the relevance and versatility of the models available. Citroen's electrification approach focuses on vehicles that provide -comfort and simplicity of use, lower operating costs, and fewer environmental impacts, all while keeping the quality of on-board space and adaptability that have made Berlingo and SpaceTourer benchmarks in their respective markets.
Citroën also doesn’t compromise the needs for spacious interior, modularity and practicality by including all the recognised features of Berlingo. The new -Berlingo Electric comes in two lengths and can accommodate up to seven people. The spacious passenger compartment, three independent rear seats, the Modutop® multi-function roof, and an opening rear window remain unchanged.
The car runs on a 100kW electric motor with 136hp, offering a smooth drive due to its
immediately available torque. There are no vibrations and noise while driving and no CO2 emissions. The -Berlingo's 50kWh lithium-ion battery pack ranges up to 174 miles (WLTP), making almost daily trips worry-free.
It can be charged up to 80 percent in 30 minutes (up to 100kW) at a public fast-charging station or 7½ hours hours using a 7.4kW single-phase 32A wall box. The charging network's 'densification' will increasingly meet the demand for the few long excursions throughout the year.
The Citroen-SpaceTourer Electric is a big, modern, and adaptable MPV that comfortably seats up to nine passengers. It offers a new 100 percent-electric solution for businesses and families, and groups of friends, with two lengths to select from and interior fitting possibilities.
With a driving range of up to 143 miles (WLTP) from its 50kWh battery pack, it provides exceptional mobility for a big group. It has the same charging convenience as the new Berlingo Electric and all of the benefits of driving in electric mode.
In terms of pricing, there will be reductions to the manufacturer’s recommended retail prices (MRRP) of the ë-Berlingo Electric and ë-SpaceTourer Electric ranges, effective from 11 January 2022.
MRRP reductions at New-Berlingo Electric allow both the 'Feel' and 'Flair XTR' models to continue to qualify for the Government subsidy. The range's MRRP now starts at £30,995, bringing the price down to £29,495 once the PiVG is applied.
The MRRP of the Citroen-SpaceTourer Electric range has been reduced on the newly announced 'Business Edition' trim level. Both the 'M' and 'XL' lengths will qualify for the grant, with prices starting at £31,795 (£30,295 with £1,500 PiVG added).
With space for up to nine passengers, the -SpaceTourer Electric 'Business Edition' offers exceptional value to customers, in keeping with the brand's 'Fair Pricing' credo.
