A Highly-Tuned Drifting Monster, A 1,000 Hp GT-R Engine Pickup Truck, The Nissan Navara-R

To all the drifters out there searching for some fresh and wild inspiration to fuel the imagination, feast on this, a Nissan Navara pickup truck with the heart of a GT-R.

Monikered as the Navara-R, it was built by Stephen ‘Baggsy’ Biagioni, professional drifter, demonstrator and founder of SB Motorsport based in the U.K.

This drifting beast harbors a GT-R-sourced twin-turbocharged V6 with a displacement that has been increased from the stock 3.8 litres to 4.1 litres. 

The engine has been named as VR41 to reflect its displacement, and it is able to produce up to a whopping 1,000 hp.

Said power is transmitted to all four wheels through a custom dual-clutch transmission developed by Dodson Motorsport based in New Zealand.

Other than the GT-R engine, the Navara-R also features suspension based on GT-R subframes, with KW V4 Racing Coil-overs and an HLS 4 hydraulic-lift system. 

Perfecting the outlook, it rides on a set of 20-inch wheels covered in flared fenders, which is part of a complete body kit that also includes new front and rear bumpers, and sill extensions.

Interior-wise, the Navara-R gets an aftermarket Kenwood head unit, plus a steering wheel and an engine start button taken from a GT-R. Other parts of the cabin have been kept stock.

SB Motorsport’s founder, Stephen Biagioni, expressed, "Building something like this isn’t a simple ‘throw the motor in and see what happens’ job. We’re adding everything to the frame. The Navara frame is in our booth, and we’re fabricating the front and rear subframes from the GT-R to fit that. It’s a bespoke build allowing us to use all the bits from the GT-R.”

In short, creativity is an amazing thing, and for Biagioni, it took him two years working on the creation of this Navara-R, which the development work started in November 2019.
