Here is some current information and rumours about the Axia 2023 that you should know:
Perodua Project Lead
Perodua is leading the Axia 2023 (D74A) development project, with Daihatsu and Toyota assisting. That is, Axia will have the same appearance as its twins, the Daihatsu Ayla and Toyota Agya, with the only difference being in the specifications and a few minor changes to maintain the manufacturer's identity. This model's design is said to have been finalised, and installation tests will take place soon.
The DNGA platform
The Perodua Axia 2023, like its Indonesian counterpart, the Daihatsu Ayla/Toyota Agya, will be built on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform. This is also the platform used by the new Ativa and Alza.
Transmission with D-CVT
Axia 2023 will also introduce D-CVT transmissions, such as the new Perodua Ativa, Alza, and Myvi, to replace the existing 4-speed automatic transmission. However, it is unknown whether the manual variant (E) will be retained.
NA 1.2L engine
According to current information from an Indonesian motoring portal, the two Axia twins will be powered by a 1.2L WA-VE (NA) engine with an output of 88 PS and 113 Nm of torque. In comparison, the current Perodua Axia uses a 1.0L 1KR-VE engine that produces 69 PS and 91 Nm of torque. This 1.2L engine is used in Indonesia on the Daihatsu Rocky and Toyota Raize.
Four new variants will be introduced
According to internal information shared by a local portal, Perodua Axia 2023 will only have four variants: G, X, SE, and AV, replacing the current six variants: E, G, GXtra, Style, SE, and AV.
LED lighting
The Axia 2023 design is said to lean toward a safe design and will be equipped with LED headlights and horizontal taillights, making it ideal for transporting people from one location to another while also being fuel efficient.
Improved Interior
The Perodua Axia is also said to have a better interior, including a fully digital metre and a larger floating infotainment unit display. However, it is possible that the feature will be limited to the top two variants.
