You can now pump petrol at Shell using Touch 'n Go RFID

Touch 'n Go Group and Shell Malaysia officially launched a new cashless payment method this week that allows customers to pay for petrol using the former's RFID system. This is now present at 88 of the latter leading fuel retailer's station network across Malaysia.
This new RFID-based cashless transaction lets customers pay for fuel at the station without having to use an app - apart from the initial registration - or interact with a traidtional point-of-sale system. Instead, payments are made via the Touch 'n Go eWallet that's linked to the customers' RFID tag. Customers will only need to perform a one-time registration process to link this eWallet and set their preferred fill-up amounts.
After which, customers can simply park their vehicles at any RFID-designated fuelling bays. Detection only takes seconds, and customers can refuel almost immediately. Payments for which will be auto-debited from the customer's Touch 'n Go eWallet accounts. The bays will only be held for up to 80 seconds, and any unused amounts will be credited back to the customer's Touch 'n Go eWallet.
Additionally, Shell Malaysia also integrated their BonusLink points loyalty collection into this new RFID payment scheme, thus allowing customers to collect and earn loyalty points quickly and easily with every fill-up.

According to Touch ’n Go Group Chief Executive Officer Effendy Shahul Hamid, he claims that the combination of a RFID and eWallet infrastructure has helped expand its use case beyond traditional tolling.
On top of all this, from Aug 10 to Sept 16, the partnership will reward the first 25,000 customers that fill-up at these selected 88 stations using the new Touch 'n Go RFID cashless payment. Limited to first-time users of this feature only, customers will get an RM10 cashback after purchasing a minimum RM50 worth of petrol using said new cashless payment method.
Looking ahead, both Touch n' Go and Shell Malaysia aim to grow this network of stations offering this cashless RFID payment system, targeting to equip up to 200 stations with this system by year's end.
