New Honda WR-V set for world premier in Indonesia on Nov 2

Honda looks set to see its ASEAN model range grow a little if the latest teaser announcement by its Indonesian arm is anything to go by. Announced via its official website, Honda Indonesia will host the world premier of what appears to be a new compact crossover SUV model online via YouTube on Nov 2.

The firm managed to skirt naming the model in this countdown teaser, but reputable media outlets from the republic are reporting that this is the production version of the Honda SUV RS Concept that first bowed late last year during the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2021.

Additionally, the same sources are also indicating that it will be christened as the Honda WR-V, further claiming that it will be slotted below the HR-V to compete directly against the likes of the Daihatsu Rocky and Toyota Raize in the Indonesian market – or the Perodua Ativa for us here in Malaysia.

Leaked spyshots of this supposed new model that circulated back in July this year confirmed that it will feature a more toned-down and production friendly design over the original SUV RS Concept. Technical details remain a mystery for now too, but we can expect it to harness a decent powertrain package for the Indonesian market.

Apart from the palpable hype surrounding this new model coming out of the Indonesian republic, little else is known about it at this point. We’ll have more on this supposed Daihatsu Rocky/Toyota Raize/Perodua Ativa rival once it officially debuts next week on Nov 2.
