Election Campaign Traffic Law Violations, Police To Take Action

Last Sunday, during a political party’s election campaign at Taman Koperasi Police Phase 2, Kuala Lumpur, several traffic law violations were detected by the police.
According to Sentul District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Beh Eng Lai, a video went viral on social media showing individuals riding electric scooters in a group on the road.
"It has violated Rule 42 of the Traffic Rules 1959 (LN166/19596), which requires riders to ride in one line only on the road,” he said.
On top of that, also detected were actions of individuals sitting at the back of a four-wheel drive vehicle in a very dangerous way.
He clarified, "The action can be taken under Regulation 92 of the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) Rules 1959 (LN170/1959)."

Meanwhile, the police will take action under Section 15 of the Road Transport Act 1987 against two 'buggy' vehicles if they are found not to have road tax or permission from JPJ.
In short, the Kuala Lumpur Police advises all political parties running in the 15th General Election (GE15) to always obey the law throughout the campaign period.
Eng Lai concluded, "We will not compromise to take strict action against any individual who violates the law.”
