Shell Malaysia Launches First Carbon-Neutral Engine Oils Line
Shell Malaysia officially launched its first carbon neutral engine oils, dubbed Carbon Neutral 1, for the local market earlier today. This product line is produced using natural gas, with said effort being part of Shell’s initiative to offer consumers with more sustainable engine oil options.
Shell Malaysia’ chairman, Datuk Ivan Tan, said that through this new product line’s launch, it proves the company's commitment towards helping reduce carbon emissions in addition towards the brand becoming a ‘net-zero emission’ energy business by 2050.
“Shell Malaysia is pleased to be able to provide our customers with a range of low carbon energy solutions, from electric vehicle charging and biofuels, and now carbon neutral lubricants.”
"We will increase efforts in nature-based solutions to generate high-quality carbon credits that can be used to offset the emissions generated when customers buy and use Shell products such as the latest Shell Helix Power 5W," he said.
Aside from that, the global portfolio of nature-based carbon credits will offset CO2e emissions from the entire life cycle of these products including raw materials, packaging, production, distribution, customer use and product disposal.
Meanwhile, General Manager, Shell Lubricant Malaysia & Singapore Business, Nyon Kam Yew, said, "Shell Malaysia introduces the carbon neutral Shell Helix engine oil series under the super premium full synthetic range - Helix Power and Protect.
These lubricants are formulated using Shell PurePlus Technology, which comes from 99.5% pure base oil sourced from natural gas. New to the range too is a 5W-40 viscosity grade that’s available now exclusively in the Shell Helix Power range. This, according to Shell, was meant to meet growing demands from customers.
Notably, the new Shell Helix Power 5W-40 lubricant is specially designed for powerful and high-performance vehicles. It’s also suitable for most modern passenger cars that use either gasoline and diesel engines.
The newly launched engine oils line are now available at participating Shell workshops and other independent workshops, with a retail price of RM280 in Peninsular Malaysia for a four-litre pack and RM280.80 in East Malaysia.
To further enliven this launch, consumers will get a free Shell Helix Bluetooth speaker with every purchase of a four-litre pack of Shell Helix Power 0W-40, Shell Helix Power 5W-40, or Shell Helix Protect 0W-30 at any participating stores (while stocks last).
As before, Shell encourages customers to look for the "Untuk Pasaran Malaysia" anti-counterfeit logo on the front of the bottle label so as to ensure the product's authenticity.
