Tesla Crash Trial: Who's To Blame For The Accident, Man Or Machine?

A manslaughter trial set to begin in Los Angeles for a fatal crash caused by a Tesla (TSLA.O) operating on Autopilot. 

The trial, which is scheduled to start on November 15, will look at a tragic Tesla car accident. It will be the first case in which the court must decide what the legal obligations of a human driver who was operating a partially autonomous vehicle are.

Next year, several legal claims concerning Tesla's Autopilot accidents are set to go to trial.

Critics of Tesla's autonomous driving system claim that the firm misled consumers with its product marketing, prompting them to place too much faith in their cars despite the fact that the cars' technical capabilities are far from perfect.

The U.S. Department of Justice will have to answer the question if Tesla itself should be responsible for the accident. 

This is a challenging judgement since, while sometimes a human driver handles the driving, other times the car handles the majority of the labour. In this particular crash, Tesla’s autopilot was active.

It was only a matter of time before we would have to deal with a circumstance where the line of responsibility between a human and a machine is very blurry.
