Honda's Global Auto Production Declined by 6.4% In 2022

Honda is the most recent automaker to announce its 2022 production figures. In comparison to 2021, the company produced 3,870,161 vehicles in 2018. This is the fourth consecutive year over year decline, according to the automaker. In Japan, Honda produced 643,973 vehicles, an increase of 4.6%. Of those goods, it exported 76,704—a 15% increase. It produced 831,908 automobiles in the US, a 2.9 percent decrease.

Honda sold 983,507 automobiles in the United States in 2022. When compared to 2021, when it moved 1,466,630 vehicles nationwide, this represented a 32.9 percent decline. The figures were divided between 102,306 models from the Acura brand and 881,201 models with the Honda brand. The CR-V was Honda's top seller in the US. A total of 238,155 of them were delivered by the company, a decrease of 34.1 percent from the previous year.

The MDX was Acura's best-selling vehicle. It sold 46,425 units, a 22.7 percent decrease. In the future, Honda plans to release more electric vehicles. The US will soon be receiving a new Civic Hybrid in sedan and hatchback body types.

The automaker hasn't yet released information about the powertrain, but the e:HEV model sold in Europe has a 2.0-liter combustion engine and two electric motors that together produce 232 pound-feet (315 Newton-meters) of torque and 181 horsepower (135 kilowatts) in total.
