JPJ Issues 207 Summonses For Traffic Violations
The Road Transport Department (JPJ) issued a total of 207 notices for various offences, mostly against foreigners operating commercial vehicles.
In Malaysia, foreigners are not allowed to operate commercial vehicles, according to JPJ deputy director Erick Jusiang.
"We had actionable information that a lot of foreigners were operating commercial vehicles. Foreigners are not permitted to operate commercial vehicles, whether or not they have permission from their employers.
He stated at a press conference that "we conducted the operation, code-named Ops Pewa, along with the Immigration Department."
Following an operation in Kepong and Batu Muda, the department also impounded 39 vehicles, including 15 lorries and 22 motorcycles, because the drivers were foreign nationals.

Driving without a licence or insurance was one of the additional offences, according to Erick.
54 foreigners between the ages of 35 and 45 were also detained by the Immigration Department for various immigration offences. 13 Bangladeshis, 10 Pakistanis, 10 Indians, 12 Myanmarese, and 9 Indonesians were among those detained.
