119 Motorcycle Shelters Will Be Built On Highways Nationwide
Photo: The Star According to Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, 119 shelters will be built on highways nationwide as part of the Bitara Madani initiative to make it easier for motorcyclists to seek shelter, especially during bad weather, The Star reported.
He stated that the shelter was built in collaboration between the Works Ministry and the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), with the participation of 33 highway concessionaires.
In addition to the existing 353 shelters, 40 of the 119 new shelters are expected to be completed this year, with the remaining set to open next year, The Star reported. He hopes that this initiative will make it easier for motorcyclists to find shelter during rainy days and will reduce accidents on highways.
Nanta also hopes that the ministry's collaboration with LLM and highway concessionaires will continue with new initiatives in the future.
“We will continue not only to provide such facilities, but we are always looking for ideas for the comfort and safety of motorcyclists.
“This is because motorcyclists are the most vulnerable group (high risk of accidents),” he said.
