Red Bull Racing has clinched its sixth World Constructors' Championship in Suzuka last weekend

It seems like the 2023 Formula One (F1) World Constructors’ Championship (WCC) battle has come to an end sooner than ‘scheduled’, as Oracle Red Bull Racing (RBR) clinched its sixth championship title at the Japanese Grand Prix last weekend.

While attaining its second consecutive title last Sunday, the Milton Keynes-based outfit also broke yet another F1 record this season by being the quickest team ever to secure the F1 Constructors’ title, doing so in the sixteenth round of the 22-legged championship. Scoring a total of 623 constructors’ points after the Japanese GP, RBR has developed a substantial lead over the second-place Mercedes-AMG Petronas team, which clinched less than half of RBR’s total points at only 305.

Max Verstappen breezed through his win in Suzuka last Sunday with the trusted Red Bulls' RB19

First to take the chequered flag last Sunday at the Suzuka International Circuit was none other than the current F1 World Drivers’ Championship title leader Max Verstappen. The two-time World Champion easily converted his pole position into a win with a near 20-second gap in front of McLaren’s Lando Norris, who clinched his fourth second-place finish so far this season.

Completing the podium at the Japanese GP this year was rookie Aussie hotshot Oscar Piastri, who not only raced F1 for the first time in the Suzuka circuit, but also managed to clinched his first-ever F1 podium this weekend.

Verstappen’s Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez, however, saw a totally different race for him, as not only did the Mexican driver served a slew of time penalties for impeding other drivers, but Perez also retired twice in order to serve subsequent penalties for a Safety Car infringement.

Commenting on this momentous occasion, RBR team principal Christian Horner said, "Once again it was a phenomenal performance from the team. I have been saying it all year, but really, this kind of season would be impossible without the hard work that goes on behind the scenes from all the different departments both back at Milton Keynes and here at track.”

Aside from clinching the WCC, Red Bull and Max Verstappen could also wrap up the whole F1 2023 season at next round, as the Dutchman could bring home his third consecutive World Drivers’ Championship title at the upcoming 2023 Qatar Grand Prix. Verstappen currently leads the championship at 400 points, which is 177 points ahead of his Mexican teammate at 223.

More impressive is the fact that Verstappen can even claim his third title during Saturday’s Sprint Race during the Qatar GP next month – thus possibly making him the eleventh person in history to win at least three F1 WDC titles.

The seventeenth round of the 2023 Formula One season is poised to take place at the Losail International Circuit in Doha, Qatar, from Oct 6 to 8, which will be followed by a slew of North American races including the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix later in Nov.
