Proton S70: 1,200 Bookings Placed, 5,000 Targeted By Year End

During the Proton S70 launch event held late yesterday at the Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil, the national carmaker revealed it garnered 1,200 bookings thus far for said new model. With four richly-kitted variants available and affordably priced from RM73,800 onwards, this feat is perhaps unsurprising.
In terms of variant popularity, Proton notes that the both the mid-spec 1.5T Premium and 1.5T Flagship share equal 40% slices of the total orders placed. The remaining 20%, on the other hand, stems from demand for the 1.5T Flagship X.

Moreover, Proton has also set its sights on raising this figure up to 5,000, and it aims to achieve that by the end of this year too. The national carmaker also expects demand for the range-topping 1.5T Flagship X variant to increase during this time, and with good reason too.
Besides price, a special early bird launch package was also announced for this Geely Emgrand-based C-segment sedan offering – Proton’s first since the Preve/Inspira, in fact. From which, Proton expects to see more buyers convert bookings from other variants to 1.5 T Flagship X.
Proton expects more conversions from other variants to the 1.5T Flagship X pictured thanks to the special launch package on offer.
As a refresher, the S70 1.5T Flagship X sees a complimentary aerokit worth RM3,130. Available for other variants too are RM500 service vouchers and upgraded Proton Insurance Programme. However, these are limited only for the first 3,000 units registered by 29 Feb 2024.
Proton also expects the S70 to outsell the X50 – Proton’s second best-seller after the Saga. On this front, the national carmaker’s VP of sales Edmund Lim said during yesterday’s launch that the firm aims to shift between 2,000 and 3,000 units of the S70 monthly.
