Two Days Of Free Toll For Deepavali This Weekend
Highway users will be able to travel without paying tolls this weekend as part of the Deepavali celebrations, according to works minister Alexander Nanta Linggi.
The Star reported that the toll exemption will begin at midnight tonight and end at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday.
Following discussions with relevant departments, the Ministry of Works has confirmed that road users will not be required to pay tolls for two days beginning tomorrow and ending Sunday (November 11 and 12).

The toll exemption coincided with the Deepavali celebration, which takes place this Sunday.
Malaysians can enjoy the toll exemption everywhere except at these 2 places,; Plaza Tol Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI), the connecting toll to Singapore and Plaza Tol Tanjung Kupang, Johor.
"This initiative is to enhance the festive spirit of Malaysians, especially those of the Hindu faith, who will be celebrating Deepavali.
“It is also in line with the unity government's desire to help ease the burden of people of all religions and races,” he said in a statement. Nanta stated that the two days were chosen to avoid excessive traffic buildups when people return to their hometowns.

Over the course of two days, 11.8 million vehicles are anticipated to travel along highways, making it possible to coordinate and optimise the operation of supplementary logistics along these routes.
“It is hoped that highway users will take advantage of this toll waiver to better plan their journeys. They are advised to abide by the issued travel time advisory," he added.
