UMW Toyota Planted 12,000 Trees In 2023 To Support Environmental Sustainability

UMW Toyota Motor demonstrates its commitment to environmental sustainability by actively participating in the UMW Green Shoots Initiative (UGS), a UMW Group CSR programme led by UMW Toyota Motor and Perodua since 2021.
The recent UGS event in Langkawi's Kubang Badak Mangrove Reserve planted 5,900 trees, bringing the total number of trees planted in 2023 to 12,000, including the 6,100 trees planted in Tanjung Tuan in March.

The event was attended by students and teachers from MRSM Langkawi, members of the local community of Kampung Kubang Badak, members of the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS), and dedicated volunteers from UMW Toyota Motor and its dealers.
Under the theme "Green Malaysia. Our Trees, Our Life," The UGS Initiative represents a significant step towards a greener future while supporting the National 100-million Tree-Planting Campaign 2020-2050.

Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor stated, "Carbon is our No.1 enemy. Therefore, taking care of the environment is a shared responsibility for a better future. Through initiatives like UGS, we aspire to embrace our philosophy of Move Your World redefining mobility as an integral facet of daily life".
This initiative supports Toyota's global commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. This goal includes a practical and long-term reduction in CO2 emissions, acknowledging that a one-size-fits-all approach may not be adequate.

As a result, a multi-pronged approach is required, including a push for Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs). UMW Toyota Motor actively contributes to the larger mission of creating a sustainable future by planting trees and offsetting CO2 emissions.
