2024 Hyundai Elantra N Design Revealed At Auto Shanghai 2023

Taking a break from the many new EV models and concepts launches, the Auto Shanghai 2023 also features several new performance model launches, giving some good news for petrolheads ahead of the impending electromobility.

One of the ICE-powered performance-oriented models making headlines at China’s most important auto show is the all-new 2024 Hyundai Elantra N. Cordially known as the Avante N in its domestic market, this latest N-model is based on the facelifted version of the brand’s C-segment fighter, the 2024 Hyundai Elantra.

Visually, the front end of the Elantra N has been reworked to with more body-coloured parts replacing the blacked-out ones before, while maintaining the iconic N-model red accent at the bottom part of the front lip. And just like its bare-boned twin, the Elantra N sports the new LED headlights design with sharper shape, flanking the new metallic bar that connects the DRLs.

Fortunately, there’s more blacked-out sporty treatment on the rest of the car’s exterior. At the rear, the Elantra N now sports a more pronounced rear bumper design, with its lower part now being blacked-out. The red accent continues from the front lip to the sides skirt, all the way to the corners of the rear bumper.

Aside from the rear diffuser and new 19-inch black wheels, there’s also blacked-out trunk badging and N-specific rear wing – with the latter carried over from the pre-facelift model.

However, Hyundai has yet to unveil any photos or details of the car’s interior part. But having already seen the standard Elantra, we expect the Elantra N’s cabin will pretty much look the same as its non-performance twin, plus some red accents and trims to match the exterior ones.

Apart from the interior spec, the South Korean giant also hasn’t revealed any mechanical specs of the new Elantra N. For reference, the pre-facelift Elantra N harnesses a 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbocharged mill rated at 276 HP and 392 NM. As this is merely a facelift model, we expect the rest of the car’s mechanical equipment will pretty much remain the same, which includes things like the eight-speed DCT transmission with a six-speed manual option offered, and many more.

As this is a mere design unveiling, we can expect to know more about this latest Hyundai N model in the coming weeks (or months). But mind you, this is not a next-gen model, as Hyundai promises the Elantra N will survive the electromobility ordeal, unlike its ill-fated smaller sibling, the Hyundai i30 N hot-hatch.
