The fourth-gen MINI Cooper hatch now arrives with two new ICE-powered variants with up to 201 HP.

Following the debut of the latest-gen MINI Cooper EV hatch last year, MINI has revealed the ICE-powered version of its beloved three-door hatch model. Similar to its EV counterpart, the petrol-gouging MINI Cooper lands in two variants while featuring similar design cues as said electric hatch.

The new MINI Cooper will arrive in two variants, namely the baseline Cooper C and the range-topping Cooper S. Starting with the former, the entry-level MINI will get a 1.5-litre 3-cyl turbocharged petrol mill rated at 156 HP and 230 NM, allowing it to hit 100 KM/H in 7.7 seconds. Meanwhile, the top-dog MINI Cooper S model boasts a peppier 2.0-litre 4-cyl unit that outputs 201 HP and 300 NM, resulting in a faster century sprint finish of 6.6 seconds.

Besides that, the new MINI Cooper has also been equipped with a new suspension setup that has been tuned “for agile handling," MINI says. Additionally, both variants also get beefier brake setup than before, while the stick-shift manual option, unfortunately, has been omitted for good in this generation.

In case you need more grunt, there’s a full-fledged, souped-up JCW version in the works, set to be launched some time later this year. But in case you only need the styling bits, MINI is offering the standard Cooper hatch with the JCW trim package for an additional cost.

As expected, the ICE-powered MINI Cooper looks identical to its all-electric twin.

On the visual front, the new MINI Cooper looks painstakingly similar to its EV twin, with only several minute details separating the two models. For starters, the ICE-powered MINI comes with a larger font grille design featuring two openings, as well as the Cooper S badge donning both its ends. Besides that, the MINI hatch still gets the same rounded LED headlights and triangular-shaped matrix taillights as the EV version, apart from the iconic MINI three-door hatch body style.

Elsewhere, both 17- and 18-inch wheels are available as standard, while selected international markets like the US will get stylish Classic and Favoured exterior design trims, along with three roof colour options.

As expected, the ICE-powered MINI Cooper also gets the same cabin layout as the Cooper EV model, featuring the latest rounded OLED infotainment screen that crowns above its two-tone textile dashboard. Said infotainment unit comes with trick 3D visualisation for the on-board navigation system with an augmented view. Additionally, modern creature comforts like a panoramic glass roof, a wireless charging pad, and a digital key via the MINI smartphone app are also available for the ICE model.

With its production set to commence later in March this year, the all-new MINI Cooper is now available for order in selected international markets. For the US market, the baseline Cooper C is tagged at $28,950 (RM137,990), while the top-of-the-line Cooper S hatch comes at a higher $32,000 (RM152,528) premium.
