Transport Minister Anthony Loke had earlier presented the special edition vehicle registration number "GOLD 1" to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar.
Sultan Ibrahim had won the bid for the registration number after placing a bid of RM1.5 million, setting a record as the highest number plate bid value to date.
Sultan Ibrahim’s official Facebook page also posted a statement that the RM1.5 million will be channelled to the Federal Government. The GOLD registration number series was open for bidding through the JPJeBid System from Feb 1 to 5.
Anthony Loke further explained on 30 Jan that the registration number series was offered in conjunction with the 50th Golden Jubilee celebration of the Federal Territory this year.

He also stated that proceeds from the sale of the GOLD registration number series would be utilised by the ministry for various initiatives such as driving licence assistance, helmet subsidies, and FlySISWA subsidies.
He further mentioned that the bidding prices in JPJeBid are based on minimum set prices, with main value categories set at RM20,000, attractive numbers at RM3,000, popular numbers at RM800, and ordinary numbers at RM300.
Neither he nor JPJ have announced the total amount collected from the sale of the GOLD registration number. The prefix FF, which was offered in 2023 in conjunction with JPJ's 77th anniversary, generated the most revenue for the government in registration number sales back then.
Sultan Ibrahim had also secured the registration number FF1 for a total of RM1.2 million which, until now, the highest amount paid for registration number. Sultan Ibrahim also owns the number plates F1 (RM836,660), W1N (RM748,000) and WWW1 (RM520,000).
