JPJ Introduces New e-Dereg System to Curb Abandoned Vehicles

JPJ introduces a new Online Vehicle De-Registration (e-Dereg) system to combat the issue of abandoned vehicles.
In a bid to combat the prevalent issues pertaining to abandoned vehicles in housing areas, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) has launched a new Online Vehicle De-Registration (e-Dereg) system.
Officiated by Malaysian Transport Minister YB Anthony Loke, this new system enables vehicle owners to complete the de-registration process of their scrapped vehicles online without the need to visit JPJ counters.

Malaysian Transport Minister YB Anthony Loke, speaking to the media at the Authorised Automotive Treatment Facility (AATF) in Bandar Teknologi Kajang.
“This initiative involves motor vehicles that are no longer fit for use due to any reason, such as being permanently damaged or economically unviable for repair or use on the road,” the MOT minister said during his visit to the Authorised Automotive Treatment Facility (AATF) in Bandar Teknologi Kajang today.

Aside from providing this new online service, JPJ also ensures that all the de-registered vehicles will be scrapped at licenced AATFs, in compliance with the regulations set by the Department of Environment (JAS).

Initial rollouts of this program will be kick-started by Car Medic Sdn Bhd in Bandar Teknologi Kajang, with subsequent AATFs set to be rolled out in the rest of the country in the near future.
