Previewed today for the first time in Malaysia is the GWM Ora 07, the latest EV model by GWM Malaysia.

Following its first batch arrival and booking commencement, the much-anticipated GWM Ora 07 has made its first public appearance in Malaysia today. This EV saloon is showcased in a special media preview event alongside some other upcoming models by GWM Malaysia.

The Ora 07 gets a similar front face as the Ora Good Cat, featuring the retro-inspired oval-shaped LED headlights and a clean, grill-less front face.

Just like the Ora Good Cat, the Ora 07 comes with a host of rounded and oval-shaped design elements that protrude a perfect blend of retro and modern. Its retro-inspired front face, featuring an enclosed grille with oval-shaped LED headlights, is accompanied by a fastback-style roofline.

The sleek roofline is further paired with its sporty frameless doors with flushed door handles. At the back, there’s an adaptive rear spoiler hidden in the tailgate of the Ora 07, which automatically deploys at 70 KM/H. Paired with the saloon’s sleek fastback design, the Ora 07 boasts a claimed drag coefficient figure of 0.22 Cd.

Elsewhere, two wheel options are available for the Ora 07, namely the 18-inch unit reserved for the baseline variant and the bigger and snazzier 19-inch unit for the top-spec model.

The Ora 07's cabin is draped in plush leather upholstery material, while being laced with tons of modern creature comforts.

On board, the Ora 07 EV saloon comes with a pretty luxurious cabin space, primed with some modern creature comforts and retro-inspired design. For starters, the whole cabin is engulfed in plush leather upholstery, including the two front seats, which are powered and come with massage features.

Crowning above its front dash is a 12.3-inch central infotainment system with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, complemented by a smaller 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Sitting below the infotainment screen are several physical dials and buttons for the climate control and drive mode selector, with its gear shifter being placed on the lower-right quadrant of the steering wheel.

The Malaysian market is getting two variants of the Ora 07, namely the Long Range and Performance.

As per our prior report, the Malaysian-bound Ora 07 will arrive in two specifications, namely the baseline ‘Long-Range’ variant and the top-spec ‘Performance’ variant. Starting with the former, it employs a single, front-driven (FWD) electric motor setup rated at 204 PS (150 kW) and 340 NM. Juiced by an 83.49-kWh LFP battery unit, the Ora 07 LR boasts a claimed NEDC range of 640 KM, or 600 KM on the more stringent WLTP standards.

The Performance model, on the other hand, harnesses a peppier dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup with a total system output of 408 PS (300 kW) and 680 NM, allowing a 0-100 KM/H sprint finish in a decent 4.3 seconds, plus a capped V-max of 180 KM/H. Using the same LFP pack as the LR model, the Ora 07 Performance gets a slightly discounted maximum range figure of 550 KM (NEDC).

On the safety front, the ORA 07 comes ready with Level 3 semi-autonomous driving abilities. This is enabled through the full-swing of active driver assist (ADAS), which also includes GWM’s novel Wisdom Dodge System (WDS), Integration Intelligent Parking (IIP), Automatic Reverse Assist (ARA), as well as other staple ADAS functions like adaptive cruise control (ACC), autonomous emergency braking (AEB), and more.

Although GWM Malaysia has yet to reveal its prices, you can now place a booking for the new GWM Ora 07.

While order books for the new GWM Ora 07 have been opened, GWM Malaysia has yet to reveal the official prices for its latest EV model. With this sleek EV saloon set to compete against the likes of the new BYD Seal and Tesla Model 3 ‘Highland’, we can expect the Ora 07 to be priced in the same region as its apparent rivals, which is within the RM180,000 to RM200,000 price range.

Those who are keen on the GWM Ora 07 can now place their booking through any authorised GWM dealerships nationwide, as well as via GWM Malaysia’s official website. For a limited time only, customers who book the ORA 07 from today onwards will receive an exclusive benefit in the form of a 5-year free maintenance package, including parts and labour.
