Pro-Net Secures RM200 Million Loan From CIMB To Fund Its EV Growth
CIMB Bank Berhad has granted RM200 million to Proton Holding's Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd to support the company's green mobility initiative and the import and distribution of the #1 premium smart electric vehicle in Malaysia.
In Malaysia and Thailand, the arm is the only authorized importer and distributor of smart cars. Built on Geely's Sustainable Electric Architecture (SEA) and designed by Mercedes-Benz, the smart #1 is the first model to be sold. With thirteen dealers at the moment, after-sales services, and a user-friendly digital app called "Hello smart," it can access more than seventy percent of the public charging network.
The company is also responsible for carrying out national automaker PROTON's commitment to its electric vehicle agenda. It is also expected to play a significant role in driving Tanjong Malim's Automotive High Tech Valley (AHTV) development and the shift towards the manufacture of New Energy Vehicles (NEV).
Roslan Abdullah, Board Member of PRO-NET said, “We will utilise this financing to enhance our digital ecosystem and supply chain in EV infrastructure and expand our network for a seamless retail experience. This will facilitate the rising demand for electric vehicles, aligning with Malaysia’s carbon neutrality objective.”

With the launch of its extensive suite of EV financing solutions, CIMB offers a variety of options for the consumer EV market to encourage the uptake of EVs and assist the transition of ASEAN toward sustainable mobility.
