JB Cops Use Two Buses To Block Road, Nab 'Mat Rempit' With Modified Bikes

Johor Bahru South district police used two buses to stop a group of errant bikers from fleeing in a special integrated operation that began at 5 p.m. on Sunday and ended at 1 a.m. Monday on Jalan Skudai-Pantai Lido.
The two-day operation saw 286 people and 257 vehicles inspected, according to ACP Raub Selamat, Chief of the Johor Bahru South District Police.
He added that over 100 law enforcement personnel from different agencies were involved in the operation to stop errant motorcycle riders. 115 motorcycles were seized in accordance with Section 64 of the Road Transport Act 1987 out of 286 people and 257 vehicles that were stopped for inspection during the joint operation.

153 summonses were issued for a variety of offenses, including driving without a valid license, illegally modifying a vehicle's structure, and other violations. The road transport department (JPJ) also issued 54 compound notices under the 1987 Road Transport Act for various violations.
Meanwhile, the Department of Environment (JAS) issued 46 compound summonses and 52 inspection notices to people who were riding motorcycles and emitting noise levels that exceeded permitted levels.
