Mazda EZ-6 China Pre-Sales Opens: EV and EREV Models Unveiled

Pre-sales for the Mazda EZ-6, developed jointly with Changan for the Chinese market, has started. This new offering comes in both fully electric (EV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions, with pricing loosely set between RMB160,000 and RMB200,000 (approx. RM94,000 - RM118,000). Now despite this being a Chinese market model, a global version has also been rumored and there is a change Malaysia might just be one of the market this model will me launched in.
There will be four EREV variants and three EV options of the EZ-6 which is based on the Deepal SL03 and L07 sedans. The EZ-6 is 4,921 MM in long with a 2,895 MM wheelbase, 1,890 MM wide and 1,485 MM tall. These dimensions make the EZ-6 larger than both the SL03 and L07, despite having a slightly shorter wheelbase.

Mazda's KODA design language even in these Chinese only models where the signature grille design takes centre stage at the front, while the "Wings of Light” LED headlights feature a split structure, with the main lights tucked under the DRL. The car's side profile exudes a sporty, coupe-like stance complete with a Porsche like electric spoiler that deploys above 90 KM/H.
Inside, the EZ-6 embraces a more traditional approach compared to the instrument panel-less Deepal L07. It boasts a full digital instrument panel, a 14.6-inch infotainment screen, and an impressive 50-inch augmented reality HUD powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chipset.

Standard across all variants is leather upholstery, while higher trims feature a leather-suede blend. Luxury touches include a 14-speaker Sony audio system, 64-colour ambient lighting and zero-gravity front seats that recline to a nearly flat position.
The panoramic roof is also a fixed unit and the gear lever is steering-column-mounted similar to that found in Mercedes-Benz which frees up space on the centre console to house dual wireless charging phone slots.

Powering the fully electric Mazda EZ-6 is a rear mounted 190 kW (255 HP) electric motor, paired with either a 56.1 kWh or 68.8 kWh battery pack. Depending on the battery choice, the vehicle offers a CLTC range of either 480 KM or 600 KM, respectively. The lithium iron phosphate battery can be charged from 30% to 80% in just 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, the EREV variant offers range extension via a 70 kW (94 HP) 1.5-litre engine with the car's primary power coming from a 160 kW (215 HP) e-motor. Depending on the choice of battery option, all electric range will be 130 KM or 200 KM with a total combined driving range of over 1,300 KM. Charging times from 30% to 80% sit at around 20 minutes.

The EZ-6 is equipped with Mazda's Level 2.5 ADAS package, which includes intelligent cruise control, though it stops short of full autonomous driving. As the pre-sales period begins, Mazda’s EZ-6 promises to be a competitive new entry in both the electric and range-extended segments.
