888-HP Huayra R Evo Debuts As The Most Powerful Pagani Ever

The all-new, 888 HP-rated Huayra R Evo breaks cover as the most powerful model ever created by Pagani.
Pagani has a new monster in its cage, and it is called the Huayra R Evo. Built upon the already manic Huayra R hypercar, this new topless hypercar is dubbed the most powerful model ever crafted by Horacio Pagani.
Drawing inspiration from several open-top race cars like the IndyCar and classic long-tailed race cars, Horacio Pagani has decided to blend these two elements into its latest creation. As a result, the manic Huayra R Evo comes with a removable roof design while featuring an extended tail that makes it look like a proper Le Mans race car.
And a proper Le Mans racer this is, as the Huayra R Evo boasts similar performance to the Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2) racecars, featuring more power and better downforce compared to the standard Huayra R.

This AMG-sourced 6.0-litre nat-asp V12 mill has been tweaked to now output 888 HP and 770 NM
This performance upgrade stemmed from a familiar 6.0-litre nat-asp V12 mill sourced from AMG, which has been given a slew of enhancements and upgraded parts. As a result, this twelve-pot mill is now rated at a whopping 888 HP and 770 NM, making it the most powerful Pagani model to date. Mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox, the V12 unit is now able to rev at up to 9,200 RPM, allowing it to outsing any other LMP2 cars out there.

The Huayra R Evo boasts a race car-like long tail design, which makes the car 190 MM longer than the standard Huayra R model.
Beyond its cosmetic appeal, the long-tail design actually serves an important role in further boosting the Huayra R Evo’s aerodynamic performance. Together with its massive rear wing, the removable roof design, and other body modifications, the Huayra R Evo boasts 45% more downforce than the standard Huayra R model, capable of developing more downforce than its weight (1,066 KG) at 320 KM/H.

While removing the car’s roof seems counterintuitive on the aerodynamics side, Pagani claims that the Huayra R Evo actually produces 5% more downforce in the open-top mode compared to when the roof is closed. On top of that, this manic hypercar’s all-carbon bodywork is also 38% stiffer than its predecessor, thanks to the cutting-edge carbon fibre technology developed by the marque for the Utopia concept.
Moreover, Pagani has also worked on the Huayra R Evo’s chassis, featuring a new, F1-style heave damper setup that allows the car to be raised and lowered without altering the wheel’s dampers. The carbon-ceramic brakes have also been improved by using larger pads and a new slotted design for the rotors, allowing the car to stop on the dime even with its boosted power output.

As of now, Pagani has yet to reveal both the price and the availability of the new Huayra R Evo. Judging by all the intricate details and work being done on it, we can expect this manic hypercar to be a special, limited-production model that surely fetches top dollars.

Pagani, however, did say that the Huayra R Evo will join the marque’s exclusive Arte in Pista programme, where customers will get the chance to drive several of Pagani’s greatest machines at some of the world’s best race tracks.
“The Huayra R and the Arte in Pista program have expanded our clients’ experience with the Pagani brand beyond our wildest dreams, giving a new opportunity to owners of the Zonda R and Zonda Revolución as well,” says Horacio Pagani.
“It is our pleasure to share the Huayra R Evo with you, pushing the boundaries of performance and emotion even further. Let’s start by removing the roof and take it from there…”
