JPJ Driving License Renewal Slip Not Accepted Abroad

image-full_normal---2024-02-09T165609.559.jpg Although we are gradually moving toward digitalization for our digital driving license (e-LMM) and vehicle road tax (e-LKM), it appears that these are not transferable across international borders.
The road transport department (JPJ) has issued a frequently asked questions (FAQ) document explaining how the new driving licence (LMM) renewal slip works in Malaysia.
For your information, this slip is being issued for people who still would rather have a hard copy of their license than to renew their digital license (e-LMM), which will show up in the MyJPJ app. JPJ-driving-licence-renewal-slip-FAQ-1-750x393.jpg

If you're planning to get behind the wheel overseas, you need to apply for a physical plastic card as listed in the FAQ sheet recently shared by JPJ.

The LMM renewal slip is available to all Malaysian and non-citizen drivers and can be obtained at JPJ counters or through agents such as Pos Malaysia and MyEG. You can also renew your LMM through JPJ's mySIKAP portal, but remember to select the renewal slip.

Another thing to remember is that if you are stopped by authorities here in this country, you can present your e-LMM from the MyJPJ app as proof of your driver's license. 000000552315_c0ff481e_f7ed_4b8d_b6de_9dd9d7ddacf5.jpg

The physical LLM renewal slip is only a supporting document that must be presented alongside your current physical driver's licence card. At roadblocks, you'll need both (unless you already have the e-LMM, in which case you can show it from the MyJPJ app).
