Toyota Eco Youth 2025 Sees Up To RM167,000 In Prizes And Grants Ready

The annual Toyota Eco Youth (TEY) programme sees its 2025 edition kick off larger than ever as it welcomes up to 30 schools for the first time.
The Toyota Eco Youth (TEY) 2025 programme is now opened for registration. Announced this week by UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT), this annual programme is opened to secondary school students across Malaysia to develop and showcase their innovative environmental solution.
The porgramme is organised by UMWT as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sees the automaker partnering with the Ministry of Education (MOE) as well. This joint initiative aims to nurture young changemakers who are committed towards sustainability.

The programme, organised annually with the Ministry of Education (MOE), aims to nurture young changemakers committed towards sustainability.
This year, TEY 2025 will include up to 30 participating schools for the first time in its 24-year run – twice the number it hosted in previous years. Each campus will receive RM3,000 in grant funding to kickstart their sustainability projects. Altogether, RM90,000 in seed funding will be issued here by UMWT.
Besides project funding, students will then compete for the RM77,000 cash prize pool that will be awarded across the following categories:

“By doubling school participation and increasing funding, we are giving more students the opportunity to develop solutions that will drive Malaysia toward a greener future,” remarked UMT President Datuk Ravindran K.
Since it began, TEY has engaged nearly 600 schools and over 300,000 pupils, empowering them with hands-on learning experiences whilst tackling real-world sustainability issues, key amongst which being waste management, water conservation, and renewable energy adoption.

Central to TEY projects is the guidance based on Toyota's 8-Step Problem-Solving Methodology.
Central to TEY projects are their guidance using Toyota’s 8-Step Problem-Solving Methodology. This helps students identify environmental challenges, analyze root causes for which, and implement practical solutions for which.
Notable past projects of TEY include a novel agricultural waste reduction system trialled in Kuala Bikam, sustainable farming solutions practiced in Sarawak, as well as a marine pollution clean-up drive in Penang.
Details as well as online registration can be obtained and acquired online now via the dedicated Toyota Eco Youth page at UMW Toyota Motor’s official website now.
