Thai Police Fine 10 Malaysians Caught Street Racing In Hatyai

A group of Malaysian drivers were arrested in Hat Yai, Thailand, for illegal street racing following complaints from residents near the Greenway Night Market on the evening of May 17th.
The drivers were observed racing in circles three times and blocking a lane of Kanchanawanit Road.

It was not long before the cops took action. Ten people, men and women between the ages of 21 and 25, were located and taken to the police station at around 11AM after they were found guilty of causing excessive noise and traffic disruption, upsetting the often peaceful atmosphere around the area.
With a translator assisting, the group received a serious warning and fines. Six vehicles, including Mercedes-Benzes and Honda Civic Type Rs, were seized. The individuals were charged with reckless driving, blocking traffic, illegally modifying vehicles, and not having the necessary equipment.

According to Khaosod, the Malaysian group apologized for their behavior and promised not to repeat it. They reportedly returned to Malaysia immediately after the incident.
The commander of the Kho Hong Police Station, Police Colonel Apichat Wannako, issued a reminder to foreign tourists driving in Thailand. He emphasized the importance of following local traffic regulations.
According to him, tour guides and travel agencies, especially those catering to tourists from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore, must ensure that their clients are informed about and comply with Thai laws.
It is believed that on May 16th, a group of Malaysians reportedly traveled to Hat Yai, a bustling city near the Malaysian-Thai border. They made their journey in six sedan vehicles for what is believed to be a weekend trip.
