Lamborghini Temerario GT3 Bows In But Ditches The PHEV Setup

Lamborghini has unveiled the GT3 racecar version of its latest V8 PHEV supercar, the Lamborghini Temerario.

It’s been almost a year since Lamborghini unveiled its new V8 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) supercar, the Lamborghini Temerario. This time around, the Italian automaker has just revealed the GT3 racer version of it at last weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, simply christened as the Lamborghini Temerario GT3.

Unlike its predecessor, the Huracan GT3 Evo 2, the new Temerario GT3 is the brand’s first racer to be fully designed, developed, and built at Lambo’s Sant’Agata Bolognese factory. According to Lamborghini, this allows for “strategic integration of race-oriented engineering from the earliest design stages.”

From the design, the Temerario GT3 features an extensive carbon composite bodywork that was jointly developed by Lambo’s Squadra Corsa motorsport arm and Lamborghini Centro Stile. Up front, the GT3 gets a prominent front splitter with Sterrato-style centre-mounted lights, carbon fibre canards, revised air intakes, and a ventilated hood.

The makeover continues to the side, where it dons lightweight windows, ventilated fenders, and aggressive side skirts, while rolling on 18-inch lightweight wheels from Ronal AG. And just like other GT3 racers, the Temerario GT3 features a massive diffuser and a large GT-style rear wing.

As of now, Lamborghini has not published any official images of the new Temerario GT3 but said the racer has a full roll cage system and a new steering wheel that was developed using feedback from drivers.

Mechanically, the Temerario GT3 does bear some changes over the standard model, where it features a modified aluminium spaceframe chassis, which has been designed to meet both the structural and serviceability requirements for racing. On top of that, some lightweight modifications have also been done, including the removal of unnecessary hybrid brackets as well as changes to allow for the quick removal and replacement of parts at the track.

The Temerario GT3 also underpins a new racing suspension system that uses new six-way dampers from KW, while featuring a wider track and a longer wheelbase than the Huracan GT3 Evo 2.

But perhaps the most significant yet predictable change lies inside the engine bay, as the Temerario GT3 drops the whole PHEV setup and the front-mounted electric motor but retains the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 from its road-legal twin, albeit with smaller turbochargers and a redesigned airbox.

Thanks to all these changes and racing regulations, the Temerario GT3 is only capable of delivering 523 HP, which is almost 400 HP less than the standard Temerario’s 907 HP total system output.

That being said, the racer does benefit from other racing-specific parts for its performance. This includes the new Capristo exhaust system, a recalibrated engine control unit, an upgraded refuelling system for faster pit stops, and a new fuel sensor inside the tank for more accurate readings.

The all-new Lamborghini Temerario GT3 will be making its racing debut next year at the 12 Hours of Sebring in March 2026, with the automaker still working on the car. That being said, Lambo’s new GT3 racer will have pretty big shoes to fill in, as its predecessor has won 96 championships during its lifetime, with over 200 units being delivered worldwide.
