EV Plus Mobility Solutions Sdn. Bhd. (EV Plus) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) to launch Malaysia’s first lamp pole electric vehicle (EV) charger with full ESG compliance.

The unveiling took place at UMPSA’s Automotive Engineering Centre in Pekan, where three lamp pole EV chargers are currently housed.

UMPSA was represented at the ceremony by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Yatimah Binti Alias, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) Professor Ts. Dr. Aida Binti Mustapha, and Centre for Automotive Engineering Director Ts. Muhammad Ikram Bin Mohd Rashid.

Representing EV Plus were Chairman Y.M. Tengku Dato’ Dr. Hishammuddin Zaizi Bin Y.A.M. Tengku Bendahara Azman Shah Alhaj, Chief Marketing Officer Dato’ Dr. Ace Wong T.S., and Chief Operating Officer Jayson Peh.

Developed in-house by UMPSA’s engineering team, the chargers are locally built and deliver 7kW as standard, with the option to be configured up to 22kW depending on site requirements.

Access will be managed through the EVlution app, which allows reservations up to 15 minutes before arrival. Charging is set at a flat RM5 per session regardless of energy consumed. At present, no charging time limit or idle fees are applied at the UMPSA site.

Alongside this rollout, EV Plus will collaborate with 100 universities nationwide to support research, training and innovation in clean mobility. The UMPSA partnership is being positioned as a model for linking academia with industry.

In parallel, EV Plus is also working with state governments to convert existing streetlamps into charging points. The company has set a target of 1,000 lamp pole chargers nationwide by next year.

EV Plus is one of 15 licensed Charge Point Operators in Malaysia and views this initiative as the first step in transforming everyday infrastructure into smart, green charging solutions.
