JPJ Pahang Cracks Down On Illegal Touting in Genting Highlands

The Pahang Road Transport Department (JPJ) has stepped up enforcement in Genting Highlands, cracking down on touting activities after catching two individuals pressuring passengers to use their transport services during a weekend operation.
The special operation, held last Saturday from 3PM to midnight, involved 45 JPJ officers from across the state and targeted illegal transport operators around the busy resort area.
In a statement, JPJ Pahang said five vehicles and their drivers were inspected during the operation.
“Two cases involved individuals engaging in touting activities, while three others were related to the misuse of Motor Vehicle Licences (LKM),” it said.
Enforcement action was taken under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and Section 81(1) of the Land Public Transport Act 2010, with all affected vehicles seized and sent to JPJ’s Karak Enforcement Station.
"Five summons notices were also issued, three under the JPJ (P)22 notice and two under Section 205 of the Land Public Transport Act," the statement added.

JPJ Pahang said similar operations will continue to be carried out regularly to protect travellers and maintain public confidence in the state’s transport and tourism sector.
The department reminded motorists that touting and unlicensed transport activities are serious offences under the law. It also urged the public to report such incidents via aduantrafik@jpj.gov.my or the MyJPJ mobile app for quicker action.
