ITMAX System Bhd has secured a RM42 million contract from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to provide operations and maintenance services for a smart traffic light system in the capital, according to a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

Bernama reported that the three-year contract will commence upon the issuance of a work order by DBKL, with the site possession date and completion timeline to be communicated at a later stage.

The artificial intelligence-powered digital infrastructure solutions provider said no work may begin until all conditions precedent under the letter of acceptance are met, including the provision of a RM700,000 performance bond as well as the submission of relevant insurance cover notes and payment receipts.

In a separate statement, MD and CEO William Tan Wei Lun said the award reflects DBKL’s confidence in ITMAX’s proprietary smart traffic controller system, which was developed by its in-house research and development team.

He said the system integrates closed-circuit television infrastructure with AI-driven analytics to enable real-time traffic monitoring, adaptive signal control and data-driven decision-making, resulting in improved traffic flow and road safety.

ITMAX’s latest win adds to a growing order book. Earlier this month, the group secured a RM36 million contract from the Ministry of Home Affairs to deploy an AI-powered CCTV system at national cross-border entry and exit points across Peninsular Malaysia.

Separately, The Edge reported that ITMAX is acquiring a 70% equity stake in AI technology company Tapway Sdn Bhd for RM5.6 million, as part of its strategy to expand beyond government-led projects into commercial and private-sector applications.
