Dongfeng Cars Malaysia has given the media an early preview of its next wave of EVs ahead of their Q1 2026 launch, with the spotlight on two models: the performance-led Dongfeng 007 and the family-oriented Dongfeng Vigo.

Brought in by Central Auto Distributors Berhad (CADB), these preview units signal a strategic expansion of the brand’s EV footprint as Malaysia moves toward broader electrification.

The first to catch attention is the Dongfeng Vigo, a compact electric SUV expected to start from RM100,000. Designed around practicality and daily usability, the Vigo pairs a 51.87 kWh LFP pack with a front-motor setup delivering 133 hp and 230 Nm, good for 350 KM WLTP range

Despite its size, it retains fast DC charging at up to 167 kW while AC charging sits at 7 kW. The boxy profile, adaptive LED headlights, powered tailgate and 18-inch wheels give it a more premium presence than its price suggests.

Inside, the Vigo leans heavily into comfort and convenience. A 12.8-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto anchors the cabin, joined by an 8.88-inch digital cluster, ventilated and heated seats, wireless charging and ambient lighting with music-sync effects. The flat-floor layout and 500-litre boot emphasise its family-friendly brief.

ADAS coverage is comprehensive, including AEB, ACC, lane keep assist and a 540° camera system, positioning it as one of the more tech-packed options in the entry-EV SUV segment.

Sitting in a different league altogether is the Dongfeng 007, a sleek electric liftback with pricing potentially from RM130,000. It debuted globally with performance as its core message, and the preview reinforces this direction for Malaysia.

Three variants will potentially be offered: the AWD Performance, and two RWD options — Premium and Prestige. Depending on variant, battery sizes range from 58.35 to 73.48 kWh, with CLTC ranges between 550 and 650 KM. All support 200 kW DC charging too.

The Performance variant is the clear headline act, pushing 544 hp and 620 Nm for a 0–100 km/h time of just 3.9 secs. Even the Premium delivers strong outputs at 268 hp and century sprint time of 5.8 secs, while the Prestige offers a more accessible entry point at 133 hp but with the same long-range capability. Despite the performance focus, ride quality is prioritised via a multilink rear suspension setup.

The 007’s cabin reflects its positioning, blending a minimalist layout with upscale touches such as vegan leather, a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, wireless CarPlay/AA, a powered driver and passenger seat and, on higher trims, a 19-speaker WANOS audio system. The frameless doors, panoramic roof and flush handles reinforce its premium intent, while the electric liftback adds useful practicality with up to 1,026 litres of cargo room.

Together, the Vigo and 007 represent a major push by CADB to establish Dongfeng as a serious EV contender across multiple segments. With the compact BOX already launched in 2024, this preview underscores a more complete lineup strategy - one that ranges from affordable urban EVs to high-output electric performance models.

Full pricing and specifications will be confirmed during the official launch in early 2026 together with plans for CKD, but this early look already positions Dongfeng as a brand to watch as Malaysia’s EV adoption moves beyond the tax-free period.
