Malaysia–Singapore Ink Additional Agreement for RTS Link

Malaysia and Singapore have signed an additional agreement to further advance the Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link project, Bernama reported.
The new deal finalises arrangements for co-located immigration facilities, where both countries’ officers will operate within the same complex so travellers only need to clear immigration once.
The supplementary agreement was signed today by Transport Minister Anthony Loke and Singapore’s Acting Transport Minister and Senior Minister of State for Finance Jeffrey Siow.

The ceremony was witnessed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong during the 12th Malaysia–Singapore Annual Leaders’ Retreat.
The RTS Link, connecting Bukit Chagar in Johor Bahru to Woodlands North in Singapore remains on schedule for completion by the end of 2026, with operations targeted to begin in Jan 2027.

Speaking after a discussion with his Singapore counterpart, Anwar said both leaders touched on pressing issues at the border, particularly traffic congestion that requires urgent solutions. They also explored improvements to the cross-border taxi scheme to make travel smoother for passengers.
Other long-standing matters, including the sensitive sovereignty involving Batu Putih dispute and unresolved maritime boundaries, were raised as both sides continued searching for a resolution.
