The Perodua QV-E, built in Malaysia for the domestic market, has completed its ASEAN NCAP evaluation with an impressive result, securing a full 5-star rating under the 2021–2025 testing protocol.
As Perodua’s first battery-electric model to undergo assessment, the crossover-hatch posted an overall score of 88.36 points. The result highlights the brand’s move toward more advanced safety features and the QV-E’s strong performance in the core crash and assistance tests.

In Adult Occupant Protection, the QV-E registered 29.31 points out of 32.00. During the frontal offset test, it scored 13.31 points, with ASEAN NCAP noting a stable occupant cell and adequate protection for the driver’s chest and lower legs.
The passenger’s chest recorded marginal protection, though the footwell remained intact with no signs of rupture, a reassuring outcome considering the mass of the electric powertrain.

Side-impact protection added another 8.00 points, supported by stable structural behaviour throughout the test. Head Protection Technology contributed 8.00 points following verification through an additional deployment test and the Fitment Rating System.
Child Occupant Protection contributed 42.67 points out of a possible 51.00. Strong dynamic performance accounted for 24.00 points, while CRS installation checks added 8.67 points. Vehicle-based assessments completed the tally with 8.00 points. ISOFIX and top-tether anchors are standard across the range.

Safety Assist Technologies delivered the full 21.00 points. Both AEB City and AEB Inter-Urban performed as required at multiple test speeds, contributing 6.00 points. Effective Braking and Avoidance added another 6.00 points, while seatbelt reminders for all seating positions secured the full 6.00 points.
The QV-E also comes with Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Automatic High Beam and rear occupant detection.

In the Motorcyclist Safety category, the QV-E collected 12.00 points. Blind Spot Detection accounted for 8.00 points after meeting ASEAN NCAP’s performance requirements on both sides of the vehicle.
Rear visualisation added 2.00 points, with pedestrian and headlight-related assessments contributing another 2.00 points in total.

As Perodua’s first EV to be rated by ASEAN NCAP, the QV-E marks a clear step up in the right direction. With full-range AEB, lane-keeping assistance, rear occupant detection and six airbags fitted as standard, it sets a higher benchmark than many current A- and B-segment petrol offerings.
The 5-star rating also strengthens the QV-E’s potential as a future export contender in ASEAN markets that is beginning to standardise EV safety requirements.
