Launched: 2026 BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport Pro CKD – From RM368,800

The all-new BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport Pro debuts as the brand’s first locally-assembled EV, priced from RM368,800.
BMW Group Malaysia kicks off 2026 by launching its first locally-assembled (CKD) full electric model, the all-new 2026 BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport Pro. Priced at RM368,800, the arrival of the i5 CKD also marks the first time this midsize EV saloon is being locally assembled in the whole Asia-Pacific region.
Mind you, the figure listed above is the standard retail price that includes a 2-year unlimited mileage warranty and an 8-year or 160,000 km high-voltage battery warranty. Alternatively, you can also opt for the BMW Service & Repair Inclusive (BSRI) package that expands the i5 CKD retail price to RM392,300 for an additional 5-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty, plus a 6-year unlimited mileage service coverage.

In terms of design, the new i5 eDrive40 M Sport Pro CKD gains several minor design upgrades over the outgoing model, with most of them courtesy of the new M Sport Pro package offered to the saloon.

Some key exterior highlights include the illuminated BMW Shadowline Iconic Glow grille flanked by adaptive LED headlights, slim LED taillights with Shadowline treatment, new 20-inch M Aerodynamic wheels 939M Bicolour Black Grey with M Sport brakes finished in dark blue metallic, M rear spoiler in gloss black, M high-gloss Shadowline, and more.

Dimension-wise, the new i5 CKD still measures the same as before, spanning 5,060 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, and 1,515 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,995 mm. Five exterior colour options are also available to choose from, namely Black Sapphire Metallic, Mineral White Metallic, Brooklyn Grey Metallic, Phytonic Blue Metallic, and Oxide Grey Metallic.

The M Sport Pro treatment continues inside the new i5 CKD, with notable new additions being the new M Leather steering wheel, M seat belts, M headliner anthracite, special Dark Silver M accent combined with carbon fibre and high-gloss silver threads, as well as new BMW Individual Merino genuine leather upholstery finished in either Black or Atlas Grey.

That said, most of the amenities primed here are brought over from the previous imported (CBU) model, including the driver-oriented BMW Curved Display that comprises a 12.3-inch digital metre cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment screen—both powered by the latest BMW OS 8.5, the BMW Interaction Bar with touch-sensitive controls, dynamic ambient lights, a panoramic glass roof, fully electric sports seats with memory function and lumbar support, roller sunblinds, four-zone climate control, a wireless charger, an interior camera system, and the 17-speaker Bowers & Wilkins 655-watt audio system.

No changes take place in its practicality, as the new i5 CKD still boasts the same 490-litre boot space as before, with no frunk space available in this midsize EV sedan.

The same can be said for the powertrain spec of the new i5 CKD, where it retains the same single, rear-mounted (RWD) electric motor setup that produces up to 335 hp (250 kW) and 430 Nm. This translates to a respectable 0-100 km/h time of six seconds flat for this midsize sedan, while its V-max is electronically governed at 193 km/h.
Not to forget, the new i5 CKD also benefits from some mechanical upgrades, including the Adaptive M Suspension Professional with Integral Active Steering system, as well as the aforementioned M Sport brakes.

What’s new here is the battery system, where the new i5 CKD has been upgraded with a new silicon-carbide (SiC) converter, as well as new battery and thermal management technologies, including adaptive recuperation and an intelligent heat pump system. As a result, the new i5 eDrive40 M Sport Pro CKD gets an extended WLTP range of up to 627 km out of its 83.9 kWh battery pack.
Charging capabilities include up to 22 kW of AC charging, allowing for 0-100% charge in 4 hours 15 minutes, and up to 205 kW of DC fast charging, allowing for 10-80% in just 34 minutes.

On the safety front, the new i5 CKD comes standard with several driver assistance technologies, which includes BMW’s Driving Assistant Professional package. This package grants the new i5 CKD comprehensive ADAS functions like Distance Control with Stop & Go, Steering & Lane Control Assistant, Speed Limit Assist, Side Collision Protection with Active Return, Road Priority Warning and Wrong-way Warning, the front and rear Crossing-traffic Warning with braking function, as well as the Emergency Lane Assistant and Emergency Stop Assistant functions.
Meanwhile, the standard Parking Assistant Plus features include start monitoring, Reverse Assist Camera, Reversing Assistant, Parking View, Panorama View front, 3D View functions, Remote 3D View, BMW Drive Recorder, and anti-theft recorder.
