Chery Malaysia Teams Up with Lee Chong Wei for Youth Badminton Cup
Chery Malaysia has been announced as the official sponsor of the first-ever Lee Chong Wei Cup (LCWC), a national youth badminton tournament aimed at nurturing grassroots talent.
The competition, supported by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), will feature Under-13, Under-15, and Under-17 categories across all five badminton disciplines, with 128 qualifying slots per category.
The inaugural edition offers a total prize pool of RM100,000, one of the largest for Malaysian youth badminton, and winners will gain trial opportunities at the Academy Badminton Malaysia, creating a pathway for elite development.

“I hope this initiative will help shape strong individuals and encourage children from all backgrounds to participate in sports. Badminton has always united Malaysians from every walk of life, and I hope the Lee Chong Wei Cup can become a meaningful platform for young players to grow and develop,” Chong Wei said.
Chery’s Vice President, Cheng Nam Weng, said: “At Chery, we believe in supporting initiatives that create lasting value for society. Partnering with the Lee Chong Wei Cup allows us to nurture talent, promote inclusivity, and strengthen Malaysia’s sporting future.”
The tournament is expected to host around 3,200 participants nationwide in its debut year and will also include ESG-focused initiatives such as racket upcycling, outreach programmes, and safe sport pledges under its “Play Fair, Play Proud” charter.

This marks another step in Chery’s growing support for Malaysian sports, following previous sponsorships of Olympic medallists at Paris 2024 and the national contingent at the Asian Youth Para Games.
More details, including official dates, will be announced soon.
