JPJ Inspected 12 Driving Schools In Kelantan & Issued 100 Notices For Various Offences

If you or a family member are currently taking driving lessons in Kelantan, you might want to pay close attention to your training sessions.

The Kelantan Road Transport Department (JPJ) recently concluded a Special Enforcement Operation across 12 driving institutes in the state, uncovering serious non-compliance issues, including unsupervised student drivers and instructors operating without proper certification badges.

What Did JPJ Find During The Operations?

Out of the 16 driving institutes registered in Kelantan, JPJ officers inspected 12 facilities and audited 350 training vehicles. Action was taken against 43 of those vehicles, with a total of 100 notices issued.

According to Kelantan JPJ Director Mohd Misuari Abdullah, offences detected during the week-long blitz included:

• Unsupervised Learner's Driving Licence (LDL) Holders: Training cars operated by 'L' plate candidates without a qualified instructor in the vehicle.
• Missing SPIM Certificates: Instructors failing to produce their Driving Institute Instructor's Certificate (Sijil Pengajar Institut Memandu).
• Vehicle Maintenance & Legal Faults: Substandard technical maintenance, expired Motor Vehicle Licences (LKM / road tax), and failure to display valid Puspakom inspection discs.

Why Is JPJ Cracking Down On Driving Academies?

Driving school vehicles are directly used to train candidates before they undertake official driving tests. Allowing uncertified supervision or unmaintained cars on public roads poses a direct hazard to both the student driver and surrounding traffic.
