RON95 Sale To Foreigners, Action Taken Against 29 Petrol Station Operators.

29 petrol station operators were taken action against by The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) for selling RON95 petrol to foreigners throughout the country under the Ops Pantau initiative.

According to Berita Harian, KPDNHEP Enforcement Director General, Azman Adam, said the highest number of cases were from Johor with ten cases, Kelantan (eight), Kedah (five), Sarawak (three), Perlis (two) and one case in Malacca.

Azman Adam said that KPDNHEP has received 52 complaints with regards to RON95 petrol sales to foreign vehicles from the beginning of the year until yesterday. Upon closer investigation a total of 29 verifiable cases were produced throughout the country.

The petrol station operators that were found guilty would be charged in violation of Regulation 12A of the Supply Control Regulations 1974. He goes on to add that this enforcement is to refute claims that KPDNHEP does not penalise petrol station operators for breaking the law.

He also reminded everyone that KPDNHEP is constantly monitoring all stations to ensure that our fuel supply is not wrongfully sold to foreign vehicle owners. 

Any Petrol Station operator found guilty could be prosecuted under the Supply Control Act 1961 (Act 122) and which carries a fine of not more than RM1 million for the first offence and RM3 million for any subsequent offences. Other than that they could also face imprisonment not exceeding three years or both.

Azman Adam further adds that any companies found guilty would be fined no more than RM2 million and RM5 million for repeated offences. KPDNHEP would highly appreciate all information sent by the general public in curbing this matter.
