Launched: 2024 MINI Cooper S – ICE Variant Only, From RM280K*

MINI Malaysia unveils the all-new, fourth-gen 2024 MINI Cooper S, now available with a tentative price of RM280,000.
Besides the new, third-gen MINI Countryman duo, MINI Malaysia has continued its Malaysia Autoshow 2024 (MAS 2024) showcase by launching the all-new, fourth-gen MINI Cooper hatch. Unlike its tall-riding sibling, MINI’s new signature three-door hatch arrives solely in a petrol-powered Cooper S form.
Under its iconic clamshell bonnet, the new Cooper S hides a familiar 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbo-petrol mill that outputs 201 HP and 300 NM. Said power is sent to the front wheels (FWD) via a 7-speed Steptronic DCT automatic gearbox, allowing this iconic hatch to accelerate from 0-100 KM/H in 6.6 seconds, en route to its capped V-Max of 242 KM/H.

Underpinning the same BMW-supplied UKL1 architecture as its all-electric twin, the new MINI Cooper S promises to deliver the same go-kart driving dynamics as its predecessor. This is accomplished by the sport-biased tuning on the hatch’s suspension and damping system, complemented by the Servotronic electric steering system that allows for various MINI Experience Modes—the marque’s tongue for selectable driving modes.

As per our previous global launch report, the new, fourth-gen MINI Cooper retains its iconic three-door hatch body style while featuring a slew of modern design touches. Key highlights include the aforementioned clamshell bonnet, the classic-looking octagonal front grille flanked by rounded LED headlights, and the new triangular LED taillights – both of which come with three adjustable lighting signatures.
Special for the Cooper S variant are the new Cooper S emblems scattered around the exterior, contrasting side mirror caps and roof finished in white, as well as the new 18-inch Slide Spoke light alloy wheels finished in a two-tone hue.

The classic homage continues as we get inside the new Cooper S, with this three-door hatch model boasting a perfect blend of heritage and tech. Key pieces of equipment present here include the new three-spoke steering wheel, a rounded 9.44-inch OLED infotainment display powered by the latest MINI OS9, the signature MINI toggle bar and two-tone textile dashboard, a MINI head-up display (HUD), as well as a multi-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system.
The Cooper S-specific Classic trim grants the cabin the special black-blue knitted fabric upholstery on the front dash and door cards, perforated Vescin vegan leather upholstery for the seats finished in either grey or black with a blue textile insert, and many more.

Besides the host of tech and comfort amenities, the new Cooper hatch also improves over its predecessors on the practicality front. The roomier 2+2 seating configuration is complemented by a larger 210-litre boot space, which can be further expanded to 725 litres once you fold down the rear seats.
Similar to the new MINI Countryman, the Malaysian-bound MINI Cooper S comes standard with both the Driving Assistant and Parking Assistant Plus packages, which grant it a slew of active and passive safety features. This includes ADAS functions like Lane Change Warning, Lane Departure Warning with active steering intervention, Speed Limit Info, Manual Speed Limit Assist, Cruise Control with braking function, Front Collision Warning with brake intervention, Evasion Assistant, Rear Crossing Traffic Warning with brake intervention, Rear-end Collision Prevention, and Exit Warning.
On top of that, the optional Driving Assistant Plus package offers the new Cooper S with additional ADAS functions like Active cruise control with Stop & Go, Steering and Lane Control Assistant, Manual and Automatic Speed Limit Assistant.

Now available for booking, the all-new, fourth-gen 2024 MINI Cooper S tentatively starts at RM280,000. Similar to both the new Countryman, the new MINI Cooper S will commence deliveries from Q3 2024 onwards.
