The Geely Boyue (and Its Variations) Has Sold More Than a Million Units Around the World!

After its launch in 2016, the Geely Boyue can be seen in 17 countries. It’s known as the Azkarra, Atlas, or Emgrand X7 Sport in those markets. After Proton inked the collaboration deal with Geely in 2017, the X70 was created to cater to RHD markets.

Since its launch in February 2020, the updated Proton X70 has found 12,732 homes in Malaysia, making up more than a quarter of SUVs sold in Malaysia. It’s a serious threat to its competitors in the segment because of its unbeatable value - the fully-loaded X70 Premium X 2WD retails for only RM122,800.

Though well received, the number of X70s sold makes up only a small amount in the total units of Geely Boyue sold around the world. Since its launch this handsome SUV has sold more than a million units!

Back in its home country, Geely claims that the Boyue is one of the first models in China to feature intelligent connectivity. Chinese consumers took to its “Nihao Boyue (你好博越)” function like duck to water. After Proton and Geely inked the collaboration deal in 2017, the function was duly changed to “Hi Proton”, which quickly became a catchphrase among Malaysians.

Geely says that the Boyue sold an average of 20,000 units per month for the past three and a half years and is not showing any signs of slowing down. Last year, an enhanced Boyue Pro was launched with a hybrid powertrain paired to the award-winning 1.5T engine.

To commemorate its outstanding sales figures, Geely has created a limited-edition ‘Million Model’ Boyue which features the “infinite weave” grille seen on the X70!

If you are interested in this well-equipped and comfortable SUV, the pref-update version with the torque converter transmission is now available at the low RM80k range.
