- Renault 5 Hatchback To Return As Electric Car
Renault has announced its strategic business plan that will direct the company for the next five years. As usual, there will be cost rationalization and asset consolidation, but we are more interested in the product line-up.
14 models are slated for introduction 2025, with seven electric and seven in the C and D segment. The Renault 5 Prototype, pictured above, will be part of the line-up to push Renault brand to become a leader in electrification. Expect more crossovers in the C segment, as CEO Luca De Meo mentioned the brand lags in that segment too.
This new business plan, called “Renaulution” will see half of its European model line-up be fully-electric with hybrids accounting 35% of total sales.
Renault is referring the new 5 as a “cute, pin-sized, city car taking on of Renault’s timeless success to the future with a modern, 100% electric twist”.
In paying tribute to the original car, the number 5 is highlighted at the doors, tailgate and even front fog lamp cluster.
